It's been a while since my last post. I hate that so many posts start out with that line, but it's true. This summer has been a busy one shooting, so there's a lot of new posts coming, I promise.
A couple years ago I was introduced to Big Oak Ranch when I shot the wedding of a couple who had grown up at the ranch. (Big Oak is an incredible organization that provides a home and a family for children needing a chance. If you don't know about them, please check them out.) Since then, I've had the opportunity to shoot a couple other weddings from couples that were part of the host families. The most recent was Colby and Eva. Colby and his family were one of the many host families at the ranch, and he met Eva while in college. We shot both the wedding and engagement session at the ranch. It should be easy to see why I would take the opportunity to shoot at the ranch, any chance I can get.
I've worked with Katie Beth for several years now. She's a very talented industrial designer-turned-graphic designer for Student Life. It seems like she's been planning this wedding for years now, so I knew she had a specific idea of what her bridal shots needed to look like. Even though it was freezing weather, she knew she wanted to be outside and had even found a great place to shoot. KB told me about Boulder Field here in Birmingham. I'd never been there before but it was awesome. We had to shoot around all the climbers and graffiti but I think they turned out great.
I had met Joy while shooting our first wedding years ago. I guess she didn't pick up that we were scared out of our minds, being our first time and all, because when it was her time to get married, she called me up. Joy and Todd were the most relaxed couple I think we've ever worked with. It's very difficult with all that's going on during your wedding day to sit back and take it all in. But they didn't seem to have that problem at all. Fun was had by all, even the bride and groom.
The wedding took place at First United Methodist Church in Auburn, AL. The Reception was at The Fountainview Mansion.
Last summer, at a wedding, I witnessed a strangely over-the-top reaction to the "winners" of the garter and bouquet toss. Apparently these two were the "favorites" to "win", if I can even say that. I find out months later that those two, Pat and Haley, were engaged 2 weeks following that wedding. It could be the first time in history that's actually happened. (Other than in the movies.) Anyways, I'm super excited about shooting Pat and Haley's wedding. Here's some shots from the engagement shoot.
It's been a crazy couple of months and I'm WAY behind on updating my blog. And because the title of my blog is Eric Chapman Photography, I should probably be posting more photography. A few months ago I posted some engagement photos of Kristi and Josh, well their big day finally came, and it was great. The rain cleared and the entire day was beautiful. Here's some of my favorite pics:
